A little behind I know on the Doctor Who news! Sorry!
The BBC has released two new trailers for the next series, starting on 23rd August 2014 (UK).
The first a 15 second trail that has the Doctor, sitting on top of the TARDIS, telling us to Listen. You can view that one here:
The second one however is 35 seconds long and reveals some of the monsters that he and Clara will be encountering in the next series. The Doctor is again wondering if he is a good man and says he has made many mistakes and needs to do something about it. Clara then asks where they are going and the Doctor tells her “Into Darkness”. Take a look at the trailer:
Steven Moffat, Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman have also done an interview with Empire magazine. Moffat and Capaldi both say the next series is going to be darker than the earlier series, which probably explains the “into darkness” line in the trailer and tallies with what Capaldi revealed to Empire about his Doctor.
He said, “He’s more alien than he’s been for a while. He doesn’t quite understand human beings or really care very much about their approval.” Jenna Coleman has said that in comparison to Matt’s Doctor, Clara doesn’t feel quite as safe. “With Matt’s Doctor [Clara] felt quite safe, really. She knew she’d be caught if she was in danger, but this guy is a lot less human-friendly and a lot less patient. He’s more removed and inaccessible. You can’t quite access him in the same way.”
(The article can be read by heading to the Empire Magazine website).
This probably means that the next series will be closer in line with the Classic Who episodes and children will be hiding behind the sofa or a cushion much more so since the reboot began in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston as the 9th Doctor.
What do you guys think? Do you want a return in some ways to the feel of the older episodes or would you rather they stuck to what has worked since it’s return to our screens in 2005? What do you think the trailers say will happen in the next series of Doctor Who? Don’t be afraid to comment below!
The BBC have released a new teaser trailer for the next series of Doctor Who on YouTube. Filming for the new series of Doctor Who seems to be in full swing from the amount of reports that have come out.
Seen something Doctor? Peter Capaldi up a tree at Bute Park in Cardiff.
Wales Online yesterday were reporting that Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman were seen in Bute Park, along with the TARDIS and even a Minotaur type creature. The Minotaur was last scene in the episode The God Complex. Capaldi is reported to have been climbing trees, looking through binoculars and covered in cuts and bruises.
Jenna meanwhile was bundled up and signing autographs for watching fans.
As per usual, details from the new series have been kept very under wraps so what it all means is unclear. From the little we have seen of the new Doctor, I am very intrigued.
So what do you think? What do you want from the new series of Doctor Who? Is there anything you don’t want to see? Leave a message below.

A new character for the next series of Doctor Who has been announced by BBC America!
Keeley Hawes, from Upstairs, Downstairs and Line of Duty, will be playing a character called Ms. Delphox. The only information released about the character is that the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) will meet her when they land on a mysterious and puzzling world and that she has a dark secret.
It is still unknown when Doctor Who will première on British or American screens but no doubt more information will be released soon.
Clara and the new Doctor are getting a new friend to join them in the TARDIS. BBC News are reporting that Samuel Anderson, who has previously appeared in Gavin & Stacey and Emmerdale, will play Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School with Clara. Little is known about Anderson’s character but Anderson himself has said:
“I was so excited to join Doctor Who, I wanted to jump and click my heels but I was scared I might not come down before filming started. It’s a quintessential part of British culture and I can’t believe I’m part of it. It’s an honour to be able to work alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and I can’t wait to show people how my character becomes involved with such a fantastic duo.”
Episodes four and five are currently being filmed of series eight.
