JK Rowling regrets Pairings

JK Rowling has admitted that she might have got it wrong when she paired the characters up, particularly at the end of the series. She now agrees with many fans that Hermione perhaps should have married Harry instead of Ron.

Rowling, being interviewed by Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the franchise, told Wonderland magazine: “I wrote the Hermione-Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfilment. That’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

According to the Guardian, the author said the duo would have likely needed relationship counselling, while Watson herself also doubted the couple’s potential longevity.

Personally, I think the pairings are right as they are in the book: Hermione with Ron and Harry with Ginny, Ron’s little sister. I like them and they feel right to me. But that’s just me.

What do you reckon? Are they right? Are they wrong? What would you like to have seen?
